Science in the Sun

October 15 & 16, 2021 - Virtual *

The St. Petersburg Science Festival is an annual regional celebration where families and the public can explore the wonders of hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).  The 2021 Festival will be virtual.

We will be hosting a virtual live Friday Sneak Peek School Day on October 15.  Last year this event received great reviews from over 4,000 teachers and students.  Throughout the day, students will be able to experience STEAM through a series of fun, interactive, live online demonstrations with the opportunity to ask questions of the exhibitors.

The Saturday Public Festival will also be virtual with a live program and links to hands-on activities and more.

The event is held in conjunction with MarineQuest, the annual open house of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.  MarineQuest is also going virtual.

* We were actively planning for an in-person event but the rise in COVID infections and the potential risk to children, our target audience, led us to this difficult decision.  An event of this size takes months of planning and we waited as long as possible to make this decision.  We hope to hold a mini Science Festival live in the spring. – Steering Committee (08/22/21)
